...who was apparently sent to Canada by the teleportation process, and shortly afterward found by someone. Apparently the girl in Mejuai's part that implied that Nancos was passing through looking for Enduo recently just worded things wrong -- though I suppose "a while ago" could mean "almost three years ago"... XD
Again with the "absolutely nothing" chests, though this time I actually got a screenshot of it. I'm guessing it was indeed Magical Sheep Yogurt that was meant to be in these chests, because I know I used a bunch of those during the last few fights on the moon.
Enduo is, understandably, a bit surprised to see Nancos (who was last seen picking a fight with him and his friends just for the sake of... wanting to fight them and prove she's stronger and possibly kill them, I guess?)
And apparently she spent the past three years... doing who-knows-what off somewhere else, but coming by this house to dust off the unconscious Enduo occasionally so he wouldn't immediately breathe in some horrible disease-causing critter upon awakening.
As she explains after this textbox, since her Black Orb is more powerful than the others individually, she doesn't see any point in killing the other orb holders individually -- it has to be all at once.
She also claims to have completely abandoned the Black Orb at this point in the game, after failing to absorb it like she had originally planned. The Black Orb doesn't appear in your inventory when she joins and there's no way to switch her to other classes, but her basic abilities are more than enough for any random-encounter enemy as it is -- the combination of zzzter magic and psychic attacks is pretty tough for any enemy in the game to shrug off, and having the ability to generate barriers and absorb HP/MP makes her even more dangerous.
Also, it's not outright stated in what I finished of the game, but I had planned for the "I threw out the Black Orb because I can get stronger on my own anyway" thing to be a lie. She actually either did absorb the Orb and just doesn't want to admit it for some reason, or she intends to try again in the future after strengthening her own powers to the point where she can overwhelm the Orb's powers to merge with it completely.
And now it's time to... find a boat, apparently. Because there's still no bridges connecting the northern continent to the rest, even three years later.
Yeah, Nancos is ridiculously powerful, with probably the best stats of any character in the game. It helps that she's level freaking EIGHTY-FIVE at a point when nobody else is much past 60, too.
And apparently she got annoyed by the constant red glow of the evil-detecting rock, throwing it out in the woods so she wouldn't have to see it anymore. (She probably blew it up when nobody was looking, too.)
Yep, this town has a "now leaving..." sign in addition to its "welcome to..." sign.
Apparently Obesius was not a fan of the French, or at least not the stereotypical French people who occupied the city of Hohhohhoh -- the crater that destroyed their town left more rubble in the surrounding area than anywhere else on the map.
There are French people in this game, but there isn't any France to be found. And someone in-game acknowledges this fact, of course. XD
Some not-so-new enemies, including the "Sk'mo," which has a name derived from Eskimo but... apparently they don't bundle up quite as much.
I vaguely remember that one of my sister's friends could not pronounce "Sk'mo" (it's basically like "ska-mo"... like you were going to say "scum" or "scud" but stop before the consonant on the end, pause for a split-second, and then say "mo.") Instead of "Sk'mo" he would say something along the lines of "Skee-mo" every time.
Passing through the Aqua Kuarudos' cave, Enduo and Nancos eventually find that the last room has been completely remodeled. It now features a switch on the wall, and no Kuarudo queen (because she's dead, of course.) But before you can flip it...
...Goatsu arrives, this time without the accompaniment of Deathio, to explain what the switch does.
And also block your way to it, threatening to attack if you get any closer. And apparently Nancos is familiar with Goatsu, though he doesn't seem to know her at all. Turns out she was on the moon spying on Burije's group when the takeover happened and Nebozu was swapped out for whoever that was who turned into Barney after being kicked in the nads.
This, of course, leads directly into the Goatsu fight, to the tune of a techno remix of Kefka's theme from Final Fantasy 6.
Goatsu's gimmick is that he's a Blue Mage, along the lines of the ones in Final Fantasy 5 and probably other games in the series that I haven't played (since I haven't played any newer than 6.) If you use a special attack against him, he immediately begins to copy attacks from that list -- so if you use a karate chop or ki blast on him, he'll start using similar moves against you. If you use one of Nancos' techniques, he gains zzzter magic and psychic powers. Same deal with the various other classes Enduo can access.
And... I lost against Goatsu the first time. Time to go back and try again.
This time, thanks to (over)use of Nancos' ability to generate barriers that bounce special attacks back on your opponent, I was able to beat Goatsu without that much trouble. Heck, the only reason I even lost the first time was getting paralyzed by a Zzzter Blast while I didn't have a barrier up.
The biggest moron being Yenrab Nebozu, of course... both in size and in degree of Moronism. XD
Weirdly, it seems like the Aqua Kuarudos' side of the cave and the Aero Kuarudos' side have switched places in the second half. Their color palettes, however, did not. So if you go in the former Path of Water entrance you end up on a water-colored Path of Wind instead.
That includes this horrible room of boredom and aggravation.
Even weirder, the final room has the correct colors/fog... and when you leave that room, so does the rest of that side of the cave now! I think I must have messed up somewhere around here.
"Over to the east" apparently translates to "hundreds of miles southeast." Heading due east will just lead to you walking up against the ocean, full of nothing but water.
Also, the "boat the Kuarudos found" appears to be the sail barge from the first half, complete with the same dinky march music when you're riding it.
Unfortunately, since you're limited to the lighter-colored shallow water on the sail barge, you can't get to the west side of the map right now. It'd be kinda pointless, but still.
You can, however, get to Chaeba, which has become an island after a bunch of meteors carved out a trench around it and the water filled it in.
The Yuckow gang is stranded on the island of Chaeba now, apparently. For a beach city, surprisingly few people here seem to have boats or anything similar, based on how everyone talks about the "we're an island now" situation.
MICHELANGELO KINKY. What a name for a presidential candidate. XD
I think the whole Vomitio-and-Barfletta situation was another "random NPC events" side-plot going on during the first half. I can't remember exactly what happens between them, aside from the obvious bit that they apparently broke up.
What's worse, being a hobo or a crack-dealing gangster prostitute?
*Khurbyish
...but yeah, she basically just said something along the lines of "I'm a fool" or "I'm a moron." Whoever is teaching her Khurbyish must not like her that much if that's one of their practice sentences.
"Republican-y" is an odd description. Also odd: an election where there's no ads bashing one of the major party candidates. Of course, it's hard to dig up dirt on a guy who's been sealed away on the moon for two thousand years and who most of society probably doesn't know exists. XD
Because if he had a TV ad everyone would be able to see that he's not just named Chicken... he is a chicken! (And he's soon to be President Chicken. Or at least he would've been if I'd finished that part of the game -- the end result of Enduo and company interfering with Nebozu's plans is Chicken being elected, either because you prevent Nebozu from being elected by un-hypnotizing everyone he'd gotten to or because you killed Nebozu immediately after he's elected.)
...I have no recollection of what this guy was up to in the first half, but apparently he has become a "pimp-mastah" now, three years later.
And upon entering Swont-Ghina, just like in Mejuai's part, you are immediately directed to the bar to go vote.
Yep, same narration from the end of Mejuai's part too.
And now for something completely different... it's time for BOOGER POWER! Yep, Robert's solo chapter of the story is next. Though not entirely "solo," as it turns out -- you'll see how in the next part.
First, Robert freaks out at suddenly being conscious again....
...and then, he freaks out at suddenly realizing that this place doesn't look familiar at all, so he must be in another country or something. (He's right.)
Robert's section is pretty long -- longer than Enduo's, more along the lines of Mejuai's -- so his Irish adventures will be saved for the next part. Oh, and he doesn't stay in the Ireland-equivalent the whole time, so I'll probably go over at least the next country or three before ending that one. I'm getting pretty close to the end of this whole thing, though, so it won't be too much longer now!
