Fnrrf Ygm Schnish: The Earthbound ROM Hack (part 10 of... 12? 13? something along those lines)

Yep, getting far enough in the game now that I can at least make a vague guess as to how many more of these are left before I'm done. XD

When I left off, I'd just entered the cave underneath the Namek village...

Where several strange new (recolored) enemies make an appearance.  First of all are Hell-Oh Kitties, which are stronger versions of the regular Hello Kitties seen earlier in the game (except now they're green, for some odd reason)
There's also Cyborg Turtittles (which are, if I'm remembering right, the strongest of the Breasted Turtle recolors in the game) and the Dark Side of the Zzzter, a recolor of the Mr. Zzzter enemy that showed up in the cave where Fatty Bunnatara wa.s
This rarely actually works on anyone, for some reason.  Not sure why, the "hungry HP-sucker" item seems to work better on enemies than the Hell-Oh Kitties' regular HP-sucker does on the player characters.

And with that, Xnort's lineup of armor is complete -- "Heartless Symbol," "Darkness Cloak," and "Creepy Gauntlets" are the only armor-type items he can equip without lowering his defense.
And here's a Gaggin' Globe recolor.

Another edible Pikachu item, a further improvement on the Pikachu Jerky and Fried Pikachu.
And here's the 7th Fugged Spot boss, Arrrghl Nick! Spelled with way more Rs, Gs, and Hs in the game than the way I spell it now, because "Arrrghl" comes from "Arrrghlpoot" (a creature from some of my other games, which resembles a quadruped version of this guy without the armor.)

I can't remember why this guy was named "Nick," now that I think about it, though I do remember that the "Ogre Nix" sword in my Final Fantasy 6 hack was renamed to Arrrghl Nick also.
He uses a bazooka (sometimes a heavy bazooka) as well as various other attacks, including paralysis.  Sometimes he does a "freeze time and rapidly attack" move, but he didn't use that in my playthrough this time.  Maybe I just beat him too quickly. XD
Though he did put up a decent fight along the way -- Spooj ended the battle knocked out, and Bridget and Xnort both more than halfway down from their max HP, and everyone paralyzed.
And after beating him, you drop down a hole, where you end up in this cave... described as "where the shinies live on the wall."  And apparently Eddie's thoughts are displayed on the wall like a big neon sign.

The "PPPPPPPP" at the end is a glitch, I'm fairly sure.  Makes no sense otherwise. XD
And another one of those random family-related (usually) visions that comes after a Fugged Spot visit.  This time, it's... Eddie's dad eating poo, for some reason.  Ewwww...

And now, the underground prehistoric place with dinosaurs.  And of course, if there's dinosaurs, there's going to be something Barney-related...
The dreaded "Barneysaurus Sux," to be specific. XD
And also a new member of the "salophamus" family, the only human-sized(ish) enemy to appear in the underground area.  There are also "Cheesy Dinosaurs" (which are huge, orange, and explode into a flood of molten cheese when killed) but I didn't run into one during this visit to the Land Before Time valley on crack.

And here's a hint that Adam Nebozu has come this way... with a killer robot, apparently.

A talking rock inside the underground Namek village (well, the other underground Namek village) lists off all of the Fugged Spots, in case you missed one.  This is also the only place in the game where all of the spoofed Fugged Spot names are used, rather than some being changed and others still being the same.  Whoops.

And he even gives you directions to the 8th and final Fugged Spot, "Big Hell Cave!"

And here's a new weapon you can buy from the Nameks.  The Ultimate Whomper will be making a reappearance in Fnrrf Ygm Schnish: Alleghany Hell School as well... though in that game it actually is Eddie's strongest weapon, rather than being outclassed by one or two later ones like in this  game.

And of course, Big Hell Cave is home to some new enemies.  Some recolors, but also a good chunk of completely-new ones.  Shown here: one recolor (the Unholy Moley) and one new enemy (the Flaming Homo.)
And these ones use the English accent attack, which first appeared in the battles against the Bloody English Moles.  At this point in the game, though, it usually has no effect.
And here's one of the completely-new enemies... yep, little floating Hitler ghosts.  They do things like laugh maniacally and try to possess you.
This one's actually a recolor of the regular Sploosher, which appears very rarely in the swamp area before the Namek village.  I say "very rarely" because, of course, I didn't see a single one of the standard Splooshers during that part of the game while the lava versions are everywhere.
And a new you-beat-the-enemy message... based on a really funny-sounding typo (or something along those lines) that someone made on a forum around the time I was making this.  I decided as soon as I saw it that I had to work the word "gobernate" into the game somehow, so... yeah, the Hitlergeist (and a couple of other enemies later) are "gobernated" when you beat them. XD
And a new weapon for Spooj here, a random Megaman arm cannon just hanging out in a gift-wrapped box in Hell for some odd reason.
And now, finally, the eighth and final Fugged Spot boss...
...which is, appropriately enough considering the Big Hell Cave dungeon leading up to him... Satanschnitzel!
Bridget recently learned Ki Barrier Omega, so his attempts at using Roasty are basically useless.
Satanschnitzel wasn't so hard.  I'm fairly sure this attack was the one that finished him off.
But then... well, he's not quite finished off just yet.  Just like the Carbon Dog/Diamond Dog dual-boss from the original Earthbound, Satanschnitzel transforms when you manage to beat his first form...
...and becomes Omega Schnitzel, which is a little less "stereotypical devil" and a little more "Cthulhu Mythos monster."  Complete with tentacle.
This attack is pretty nasty.  I'm pretty sure it knocked out both Bridget and Spooj, though I did revive Spooj afterward.  Or maybe I revived both of them but Bridget got knocked out again.  I can't remember, I actually took this set of screenshots a couple days back but just haven't gotten to posting them until now... XD
Eventually, however, the demonic hotdog is finished off -- for real this time, as you can see by the message displayed above.  Once the fight's done, your Ghetto Stone absorbs the power of Big Hell Cave, and then the weirdness starts!

The weirdness being, at first anyway, everything going grayscale and Eddie having a weird flashback-type thing (with the wrong map layout, though that's actually fairly accurate to how my dreams work -- landscapes and buildings tend to get changed around in odd ways) to when he was a baby, seeing his (invisible) parents talking about their new kid.

And then... well, after that the real weirdness starts! But I'll save that for another one of these posts.
